Having Fun Weaving Clay in the summer of 2014!

This summer of 2014 along with making boat loads of pottery for galleries I have been extruding coils of a dark stoneware clay and weaving the clay over the top of  exterior drape molds.  Once the form is complete it is turned over, adding a coil to the bottom adding a throw a foot onto the bottom of the woven bowl.  Each one is very different and my glaze pallet allows me to fit a color to the individual form.  Making these bowls has become a very soothing experience for me as a break from throwing on the potter’s wheel ……new direction!  I’m liking this!
